Classic Game Room HD – ROBOT TANK for Atari 2600 review
Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of ROBOT TANK for the Atari 2600 VCS video computer system. What’s not to like about Robot Tank, it’s a tank and a robot… in one! Like a spork in tank form. Robot Tank was released in 1983 and is very similar to another first person shooter style game on the Atari 2600, BATTLEZONE. CGRHD reviewed Battlezone a while back and has always enjoyed both games. There are some major differences between Robot Tank and Battlezone that you can spot easily when playing the games, and the gameplay footage should point this out as well. In Robot Tank your tank can take damage, in Battlezone there are other kinds of enemies and it feels more like a real 3D environment. Robot Tank is from Activision and features a 24 hour a day clock and changing variable weather. Enjoy watching the sun set while relaxing in your Robot Tank on the battlefield. Robot Tank is an excellent military combat game and one that you will enjoy if you dig Atari games and FPS style first person shooters like Halo, Bioshock and Resistance Fall of Man. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The reviews on the HD series are reviewing PS3, PS2, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. This was a great take on battlezone, and arguably better.
Both games were really well done considering the hardware they ran on.

This game and Enduro were two of my favorite Activision games ever. I still play them on Stella all the time. =)

that is awesome, I’ll boot up my emu and try this one out, I love emulators!!!!! They are perfect if you can’t find an actual 2600!

Interesting. Normally Activision games are superior to Atari games.
But.
In this case it appears like the Atari’s Battlezone is the superior game. i.e. The enemy shots don’t just disappear, and they can shoot you from behind.

0:35 That cartridge is pretty filthy. What the crap happened to it?

Yeah, but I’m getting a 2600 pretty soon, and I’ve never really enjoyed the 2600 emulator. I don’t know why, just never have.

They would be better if you have controllers. I don’t have one so it’s kind of pain in the ass with SNES or something what has many buttons and L & R triggers.

So let’s get this straight, your character is fighting for 24 hours 7 days a week? that’s crazy

Bring on the Robot Robotic Arm cartridge.

yeah, but for a simple system like a 2600, the arrow keys and space bar prove usable, I like STELLA, I htink it works very well.

Well, if it is a robot tank, it does not need to take a breather. :)
I liked this one alot, myself. I liked the sound the gun the tank that the player uses. :D

Hey where do you get off telling a tank what it can and can’t do? Tanks have rights you know, and if I find you’re slaving tanks so help me I’ll …Probably continue this terrible joke, but so help me it’ll be painfully terrible!
