Can anyone tell me if you can add more gigs not ram to a laptop or do I have to buy a new one?

I just added a gig today and it wouldn’t stay clipped either. First make sure it is the right one and everything is lining up. Then take it out and then slightly bend the silver clips inward so that that they will have a stronger grasp on the side of the memory when it is pushed down all the way. you may have to use a tooth pick or something to hold the clips out of the way when putting the memory back in. just don’t use anything metal.

just pop it in, you might have to save the settings the next time you start up your computer but you don’t have to download anything. just make sure it found the memory and hit save.

Hey,Farcry , the memory = virtual memory = RAM ; your Hard Drive is your GB – you take the RAM out, your laptop may just not work until you stick another RAM stick in…Did it clear anything ? (you won’t lose anything).

Buy a new one, laptop I mean. How many GB does it have now?

When I went to install my new RAM, the notch in the new RAM stick was positioned farther to the right than my older one, so it doesn’t fit. The new RAM stick is the same height and width as my old one, its just that the notch wont fit into the one on my Lenovo Thinkpad. Any solutions? :(

@projectTEEN123
It’s possible your Thinkpad may not support that type of RAM.
Depending on when your notebook was manufactured it may not support DDR2 RAM and you might have just bought DDR2 RAM.
However, this is just a guess and I could help more if I knew exact details.
