Success In MLM - How To Be Successful In MLM

So you have just joined a network marketing company. Perhaps you have heard that 95% of all network marketers fail. Maybe, it is an exaggeration. But the fact is, there are more failures than success.

So, what should you do to ensure that you belong to the top 5%? I think you should ask yourself these two questions. Should I recruit more distributors first? Or should I find more customers for my products?

What is your answer? Well, I recommend that you focus on acquiring more customers first. Why? The reason why many people fail in network marketing is due to one main reason. They fail to realize that it is the product sales that will give them long term residual income.

Let’s imagine this situation. Let say your MLM company is selling a non renewable product like a light bulb. Nobody buys a new light bulb every month. So how are you going to earn residual income from this company? This example clearly illustrates that it is the product sales that generate residual income.

When you sell renewable products like health supplement and you have a large group of loyal customers, you will automatically earn a sizable residual income even if you do not recruit any distributors.

On the contrary, you can have a large group of distributors. But if most of your distributors do not have a database of loyal customers; it is unlikely that your organization can sustain itself in the long term. Sooner or later, your downline at the bottom will quit.

Of course, there is also an obvious reason why you should start off by selling your products first. If you do not know how to sell the products yourself, how are you going to teach your downline to do the same thing. And how is your downline going to duplicate your effort?

If you have been in the MLM industry for a certain amount of time, you will know the importance of duplication. If all distributors start off by recruiting more distributors, then you are not duplicating a stable system. Duplicating an unstable system will only produce another unstable system which ultimately leads to failure.

Therefore, always focus on acquiring customers first. A good start will be to get five customers before attempting to recruit new distributors.

The next question you need to ask yourself is if you are really committed to your own success. I know this may sound a bit cliche but it is really that important. You must be prepared that for every 10 distributors you recruit; probably five to eight of them will drop out within the first month.

This means you should not be complacent after enrolling your tenth distributors. Because not all of them are going to duplicate your effort. Don’t expect to retire so early. You need to have at least five to six strong leaders in your downline before your organization can grow by itself without you.
